Popular Tours and Trips

Dedicate one of your day trips to exploring the picturesque Dutch countryside. Plan to stop first at one of the area's most popular attractions, the windmills of Zaanse Schans. You can not get much more quintessential Dutch than windmills and these will not disappoint. Take in these beautiful historic windmills and even make a visit to tour a real working windmill to learn more about them.

From Zaanse Schans, head to the little fishing village of Volendam. Make a stop at The Cheese Factory and museum in Volendam. Partake in the museum and factory tour(s) to learn more about the traditional Dutch method of making cheese, and even enjoy a few cheese tastings while in Volendam. No trip to the Dutch countryside would be complete without a stop at the island community of Marken. While in Marken, you will be able to visit a traditional wooden shoe maker! Explore the shops and cafes of Marken's quaint fishing port.

On one of your many day trips from Amsterdam, be sure to also visit the medieval city of Bruges, the capital of West Flanders in Belgium. This quaint town offers visitors streets lined with canals and merchants to explore. This historic city has done an amazing job of preserving the medieval look and feel of it's picturesque buildings and town. Stroll along Bruges' medieval streets to see why Bruges is often referred to as The Venice of the North.

For a scenic drive, leave Amsterdam and head toward Brussels in Belgium. Enjoy the scenery as you drive toward a city brimming with life - and chocolate! Enjoy a wide variety of beers, waffles and chocolates in this gorgeous city. There is more to see in Brussels than simply food, however.

Be sure to take in all of the amazing sites that Brussels has to offer, including the Atomium, the site of the 1958 World Expo. Tour the area's iconic landmarks, including the Royal Palace, the Palace of Justice, the European Commission buildings and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
