It's the largest stadium of Belgium and the ground where the national football team plays most of their home games. Every year, the Stadium welcomes 2 also two other major sports events: the Cup Final of Belgian football and since 1977 the Memorial Ivo Van Damme as well as various concerts. The stadium was inaugurated on August 23, 1930 as the Stade du Jubilé or Jubelstadion (Jubilee Stadium) in the presence of Prince Leopold. The stadium was renamed again after the Heysel stadium disaster hapened on the 29th May 1985. The 1985 European Cup Final between Juventus and Liverpool was to be contested at the stadium.
