What You Should Know Before Travelling To Venice

Whether you decide to stay in a cheap hostel or a more costly luxury hotel, accommodation in Venice can be a bit pricey even for bottom of the range lodgings.

Although Venice may seem small, it's tourist destinations are spread quite far apart and will need a bit of travelling, therefore, choosing hostels and hotels close to just one tourist destination may not be the best idea.

Using Treviso airport as a base is a sensible option, as you will see it at least twice during your journey, whereas there is a strong likelihood you will only see the rest once. It is both economical and time-saving.

Another option is to stay on the mainland in Mestre, accommodation here is cheaper than in the center of Venice.

Hostels are usually also located fairly close to the bus routes, which is the recommended mode of transport for tourists. Taxis are to be avoided if you're looking at saving on costs.

There is, of course, canal travels that can also be taken into consideration once you've reached the waterways. The railways are also an option travelling around Venice.

Look out for tourist combo tickets that will allow you in a number of attractions at a fraction of the price. Local hotels and hostels should have tourist information packs available, which make travelling in and around Venice simply sublime.
