Madejski Stadium - Reading in Berkshire

Madejski Football Stadium is the home ground of Reading FC and London Irish rugby club. Madejski Stadium was opened on the site of a former household waste dump in August 1998, at a total cost of more than £50m. The complex include the high-class Royal Berkshire Conference Centre and the Millennium Madejski Hotel, as well as the £1m Indoor Training Centre. It is an all-seater stadium bowl stadium with a capacity of 24,161, located close to the M4 motorway.

The new Madejski Stadium replaced Reading’s previous ground called Elm Park, which was located in West Reading. The club played at Elm Park for 102 years. The stadium is named after chairman of the club John Madejski.

The highest attendance at the stadium was 24,134 on 19 January 2008 for the Premier League game against Manchester United. The hightest attendance for a cup match at the ground was 24,107 on 3rd December 2003 for the Football League Cup match against Chelsea Football Club.

The London Irish rugby team plays in the top division of English rugby union, called the Aviva Premiership. The rugby club also compete in the Anglo-Welsh Cup as well as one of the two Europe-wide club competitions—the Heineken Cup or European Challenge Cup.
