Türk Telekom Arena Stadium - Galatasaray S.K.

Türk Telekom Arena Football Stadium is the new ground of Galatasaray Anonim Sirketi football club, one of the most popular teams in Turkey. It's one of the 5 teams of Istanbul playing in the Turkish Süper Lig. The other teams are Fenerbahçe SK which plays in the Şükrü Saracoğlu Stadium, Beşiktaş JK which plays in the İnönü Stadium of Istanbul, Istanbul Büyükşehir Belediyespor playing in the Atatürk Olympic Stadium, Kasimpasa S.K. playing at the Recep Tayyip Erdoğan Stadium.

The new Türk Telekom Arena replaced Galatasaray’s old stadium Ali Sami Yen. The club chose to build a new stadium at a different location rather than building a new stadium at the site of the Ali Sami Yen, due to the lack of space. Construction of the new football temple began late 2007, and was officially opened on the 15th of January 2011 with a match between Galatasaray and Ajax Amsterdam. The stadium is built on the model of the Veltins Arena in Schalke district of Gelsenkirchen Germany.

The name of the stadium comes from the telecommunications firm Türk Telekom, which bought the naming rights of the stadium for a period of 10 years. The Turk Telecom Arena has a total of 5,500 VIP seats and 198 suites, making it second in Europe behind Estadio Santiago Bernabeu of Real Madrid which has got 241 suites. The stadium can also be turned into a concert arena with a capacity for over 70,000 people.
