Winter Festival in Montafon Austria

Search for hotels within easy reach of the 2015 Olympic grounds in Montafon, in the west of Austria close to the Swiss border. The valley is a haven for the intermediate skier and snowboarders. It's one of the largest ski areas in the Alps.

The valley of Montafon extends from the city of Bludenz to the Silvretta mountain range. Mountains include Zimba, Drei Turme, Madrisa (bordering Klosters – Davos in the next valley) and the highest peak Piz Buin (3312m). Montafon boasts a fabulous ski arena, 62 cable-cars and chairlifts, 222 km of sign-posted and tended pistes, ski touring on Silvretta’s white glaciers, 100 km of cross-country skiing tracks, 290 km of winter footpaths (partly illuminated) and snow-shoe hiking trails, sports and natural toboggan runs (some floodlit), 10 ski schools, 8 ski kindergartens.

Venues :

Dornbirn -- largest city in Vorarlberg, located about 50km away of Schruns-Tschagguns. The EYOF figure skating events will be held in the exhibition centre.

Malbun -- a little ski resort, especially for families. And it’s an important base for training of the Liechtenstein Ski Federation.

Schruns / Hochjoch -- called the heart of the Montafon. The two partner cities are middlepoint of the valley and the EYOF 2015.

Schruns/Tschagguns / Aktivpark -- the Aktivpark hosts the icehockey venue.

St. Gallenkirch-Garfrescha -- home of the track for the Mixed Team Event in Alpine Skiing. Garfrescha is a part of the biggest ski resort in the Montafon, the Silvretta Montafon.

Steg -- The Valunatal Valley offers perfect conditons for cross-country skiing.

Tschagguns -- the new ski jumping center. The grand Opening Ceremony will take place at this site.

Tschagguns / Gaschurn -- one of the most traditional communities in the Montafon regarding alpine skiing. Directly in the city centre one will find the entrance into the big skiing area. The cross country track for nordic combined will be created here.

Youth Summer Olympics in Tbilisi Georgia

EYOF European Youth Olympic Festival -- the first summer olympic youth festival was being held in 1991, in the city of Brussels. The founder of these olympics was "Jacques Rogge", the current President of the International Olympic Committee at that time.

The first Winter sports olympics for young athletes followed two years later in Aosta. Both under the old name: EYOD (European Youth Olympic Days).

The festival include an Olympic Village, an opening and closing ceremony and the Olympic flame. Thousands of young elite sport talents from 49 European countries will compete against each another during this six-day event that features nine sports which are Artistic Gymnastic, Athletics, Basketball, Cycling, Handball, Judo, Swimming, Tennis, and Volleyball.

In 2015 the summer olympic festival will be held in Tbilisi, the largest and capital city of Georgia.
