The BMW Berlin Marathon - September 16th, 2018

The marathon, with less than 300 entrants, was first run in 1974 through the Grunewald Forest. In 1981, it was moved onto the streets of West Berlin.

On the 30th September 1990, a dream was realized and history was created. Just three days before the official reunification of Germany, 25,000 runners ran through the Brandenburg Gate, many of them in tears. In 2018 over 40,000 entrants will be taking part.

Supporting the marathon is EXPO VITAL on Platz der Luftbrücke, a large health, sports and lifestyle exhibition. Registration takes place here so looking for hotels and accommodation in this area is one of the best options for entrants, with easy links to the start and finish lines.
