The Hague City Centre -- The Hague hosts the Dutch government, it is also the residence of a lot of national and international organisations. The Hague in Holland has numerous attractions and museums of which Mauritshuis and Gemeentemuseum are the most famous.
Mauritshuis. The mansion of Johan Maurits, governor-general of Dutch Brazil, Count of Nassau Siegen, arose in about 1640. The collection consists of masterpieces from the Dutch Golden Age.
Museum Bredius Den Haag. Dr. Abraham Bredius was an art historian and art collector as well as director of the Mauritshuis. On his death in 1946, he bequeathed his vast collection of 17-th century art to the city of Den Haag. The museum now features a collection of silver, china and paintings.
Gemeentemuseum Den Haag. The Gemeentemuseum (municipal museum) owns an extensive collections of modern art, the applied arts, fashion and music. The modern art collection provides an overview of developments in the fine arts since the early 19th century.
Binnenhof. The historic Buitenhof in The Hague is a collection of buildings were built around the hunting lodge of the counts of Holland. The oldest parts of this medieval complex, the Ridderzaal (Knight's Hall) and the Rolgebouw (Roll Building) situated at the rear, date from the 13-th century.
Historical Museum Den Haag. The museum is housed in a monumental 17-th century edifice. Numerous paintings and objects from the museum's collection illustrate the history of more than seven centuries of The Hague.
