Nice City Centre in France

The Nice City Centre can be found from the Fountaine du Soleil, across the Place Massena, up the Avenue Jean Médecin and Ave Malaussena. The Nice Rue de France pedestrian shopping street runs from the end of the Place Massena, roughly parallel to the seaside. This area is full of shops, including some exclusive clothing boutiques, and restaurants and cafés with outdoor terraces.

One of the main sights of Nice is the Colline du Chateau, overlooking the Baie des Anges and harbour. You can climb up the stairs to reach the platforms 90 metres above Nice to have a panoramic view of downtown Nice. Nice is also known for several museums like the Museum of Asian art, Parc Phoenix, Musee Chagall, Musee Matisse, Musee et Site Archeologiques de Cimiez, Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art (MAMAC), and the Musee des Beaux-Arts.

The main seaside avenue is the Promenade des Anglais, located at the beachfront near Nice beaches and is lined with cafés, hotels and shops.

Near the city centre is the old town of Nice, or Vieux Nice. It's an area full of narrow, winding and very colourful streets, and yellow and orange colour-washed houses with flower-laden balconies. It's home to the daily flower and fruit market of the Cours Saleya. There are loads of cafés and restaurants found in this area.

Main squares located in Nice City Centre, France

Place Masséna -- main city centre square of Nice France, located close to the Promenade des Anglais, old town, town centre, and Albert I Garden (Jardin Albert Ier). It is a major crossroad between several of Nice's main streets: avenue Jean Médecinavenue Félix Faureboulevard Jean Jaurèsavenue de Verdun and rue Gioffredo. The square is surrounded by excellent restaurants, cafés, hotels and shops.

Place Garibaldi -- pedestrian downtown square dating back to the late 18th Century close to the eastern districts of Nice, Port Lympia (Lympia Harbor), and the TNL commercial centre. It's a crossroad between the Vieux Nice (old town) and the town centre with in the middle of the square a statue of Garibaldi. Some of the main city streets crossing this square are the Avenue de la République, Boulevard Jean Jaurès, Rue Catherine Ségurane and the rue Cassini. The municipal theatre, the Modern Art Museum and the Colline du Château hill are all within close distance of the Place Garibaldi.

Place du Palais -- close to the Old Town between Cours Saleya and Place Massena. The square is dominated by the Palais de Justice (Law Court of Nice).

Place Rossetti -- famous square located in Nice Old Town and entirely enclosed and pedestrianised. The square has a fountain and is surrounded by typical buildings in red and yellow, the Cathédrale Sainte-Réparate.

Cours Saleya -- square situated parallel to the Quai des Etats-Unis with a daily flower market, It's bordered by many cafes, restaurants and bars.
